Dave in exhibitionDave’s experience in the high-end wood products field along with his ability to take an idea from concept, through prototyping to a high quality manufactured product makes him the ideal person to set this facility up for success.

His portfolio of successes includes the designs, prototyping, and production of unique cedar hot tubs, barrel saunas, custom commercial and residential furniture, and the HIGH-R-LOG.

Dave has an impressive history of new product development, with experience in trade shows, presentations at necessary business development forums and a high tenacity for generating sales leads.

Over a period of ten years, he has invested significant capital and resources into designing and engineering the HIGH-R-LOG. Engineering companies, architects, builders, First Nations communities, as well as various Federal and Provincial departments across Canada, were engaged to scrutinize and approve the design concepts. The engineered log (together with a number of engineered building designs) has created the platform for a manufacturing company to produce these logs for the tiny home, log home, floating home and the large do-it-yourself market.

Dave Byers

About the Owner

Dave Byers moved to the Parksville area with his wife, Shirley, in October of 2015, after his 34,000 sq. ft. woodworking shop in Belleisle Creek, NB, collapsed after the 5 nor-easter snowstorms, which resulted in a total accumulation of 17-feet of heavy wet snow earlier that year.

The couple lost nearly everything so they sold what was left and moved west with some hand tools, a good sense of humour, and a dream to re-establish his business on beautiful Vancouver Island.

“I’ve always done woodworking,” said Byers, 68, who at age six helped his father build his first cabin. “I don’t know anything else!”
